Amusing..

At the moment I am pretending I don’t know Joy is in Olivia’s crib keeping her from sleeping… it’s almost 8pm, they both should be asleep… I’ll go in in a few minutes. Orlund is working late so I can pretend I don’t hear them for a bit longer.

Tonight I had an amusing, weird, strange phone call here it is~
Shortly after Orlund headed off to work, the phone rang. A Woman was on the line “Would Orlund happen to be home?” she asked.
“No, sorry could I take a message?” I thought, perhaps it’s his work calling because he isn’t there yet?.
“Well you see,Do you know Bob Long?”
“yes”  I was thinking to myself I do know him, but we haven’t talked in a year or so.
She continued “I’m trying to, well, um….mumble jumble” finally she started making sense (kinda).”If you have Bob’s phone number it would be easiest”.
“Sorry I don’t have it, I haven’t talked to Bob in a few years” I answered.
“The thing is, he sold my son his motor bike and now I need some papers from him for selling it, do you know if he lives on ‘such a such’ street still?”
“I have no idea”
“I have his number from the buy and sell add, and he lived there”
“I really don’t know, you could try the number. I have him on Facebook but that’s about it” I explained.
“Well you see, I looked him up on Facebook when I couldn’t find his number in the phone book, and saw that he was friends with Orlund. I could find Orlund’s number in the phone book so I called you”.
“I’m sorry I don’t know how you could get in touch with him, why don’t you send him a message on Facebook?” I was thinking of anyone I could get his number from, I didn’t want to give out any phone numbers either.
“I don’t know how to do that, do you think you could send him a message for me? Tell him it’s Susie Sue regarding the Motor Bike and my number is…. Thanks”.
“sure…..”
That was that, she hung up and was gone. It just so happened she’d called while Joy was napping, so I decided to email Bob right away (if you didn’t guess I made up the names).
A few minutes later she called back “Bob called me, so you don’t need to message him anymore. Thanks”
“I already sent the message”
“Oh, okay, thanks. Bye”
…..weird….
I then tonight I checked my Facebook message. Bob had emailed me back. He was apologizing for me getting dragged into this. Apparently the guy bought the bike from Bob, but never changed it into his name. Poor Bob had the cops knock on his door at 2am one time questioning him about a robbery as the bike was seen at the crime scene. Bob even had to go and sign it out of impound! Then this guy (strung out on drugs) killed a pedestrian crossing the road (while on the bike), so now his mom is trying to sell some of the parts and just needed some more papers or something.
Very Weird. I didn’t mind helping out, it wasn’t like she was knocking at my door. Glad it will finally be over for Bob and his wife too. It makes me think though. I mean she found our number by looking at Bob’s friends on Facebook, then randomly picked someone and checked if they were in the phone book…….

Well I should be in bed. However I read a few blog updates from my favorite blogs and decided, who needs sleep ~ when you can blog….right? lol.
Anyway, Gabe the 4 year old I watch always informs me that the rules at our house aren’t the same as at his house (of course). So I thought I’d list out and see what the basic rules are, lets take a look;

1) Please respect my house ~ No jumping, standing, hanging or climbing on the couch, glass coffee table or any other furniture that is located upstairs.
2) Be nice to one another ~ no spitting, hitting, pulling, biting, pushing, pulling, ramming, shoving, punching, kicking, slapping (shall I continue?).
3) Table manners ~ No talking with mouth full. Once done eating they must remain at the table (for an understandable amount of time) until everyone is done eating. (and one day I’m sure I’ll have to add No food fights).
4) Common sense ~ If you are not siting at the table then you are to drink/eat in the kitchen.
5) Wash your hands with soap and water after going pee (and before meals).
6) Boogers are to be wiped with Kleenex NOT shirts or hands (I despise boogers).
7) If you harass the cat and she scratches you, it’s your own fault. Leave her ALONE.
8 ) ~ Added just for the boys~ No Kung Fu while the girls are up, and Girls are more fragile than boys so be EXTRA gentle.
9) Outdoor activities are to be done Outside not inside ~ Like throwing balls, kicking balls, playing tag etc…

All in all I think they are pretty basic right? All day everyday I have to remind them of some… #1+2 are the most commonly reminded. Today I had to inform Gabe (hence rule #6) that if he’s a big enough boy to stand to go pee then he’s a big enough boy to use Kleenex not his shirt. OR if he rather he can sit to pee then I’ll allow him to use his shirt instead of Kleenex………He agreed that he’s old enough to start using Kleenex. (mission accomplished!).
Good night all! God bless you!

Missed me?

So I go in spurts ~ for writing on here anyway. Life is always busier when my mom is home, and this time is no different! Every day that I’m not working I’m doing errands with her. It’s fun being able to hang out with her, and the girls LOVE her. They haven’t played shy at all! This past Sunday morning I received a phone call that one of my friends was heading into the hospital Monday morning and they were hoping I could watch their kids while the dad dropped her off/picked up. I agreed, I love to help out friends and it would only be for a few hours. Orlund and I headed to bed late that night. Olivia woke up every 15minutes screaming (teething) and I had to get up at 6am as the kids were getting dropped off at 6:45am. My friends dropped them off and headed out. The boy is a quiet 3year old, and the little girl is about a week older than Olivia (9months). I didn’t know at the time, but she’s teething as well, so needless to say she wasn’t very happy! I also had a migraine. The last time I’d experience a migraine of this magnitude I’d ended up in the hospital (dehydrated). I was shaking and not doing so good holding a screaming baby, which Olivia was up too (doing okay) and thankfully Joy was sleeping. I called my mom and she (and my brother) came and gave me a hand. These kids were going to be getting picked up between 9am-10am. I had the boys arriving at 9am. Right at 9am I vomited (the migraine) right as I exited the washroom the boys arrived. I informed their mom I was ill and luckily she was off so could take them. I got a 3hour nap after the others were picked up and recovered quickly. Thank you JESUS!

This last Friday I drove out to Logan Lake to help mom with fundraiser they were putting on. I again wasn’t feeling the best, sinuses. It was a long and late night. Saturday I awoke and was even worst. I went through an entire box of Kleenex in under 9 hours! Orlund went out and bought me some medication. I’m leery about taking medication while breastfeeding but the regular Tylenol wasn’t cutting it for me. Last night I took some, SMILE, awww, I love meds :) feeling better today, but again, I’m on the meds. I’m taking them sparingly but right now I’m drowsy and I love this feeling…. perhaps that’s weird…. but other than T3′s after having Joy and the Diclectin for morning sickness these are the first ‘REAL’ meds I’ve taken since 2007 when I got pregnant with Joy…….

Well that’s that. I have sat on my butt for all of yesterday and today reading an interesting novel “Boneman’s Daughters” by Ted Dekker. Read the whole thing all 422 pages. Orlund’s turn. Tomorrow I’m back to work. My house needs my attention as well. Please pray I’m up for the challenge of getting this house in order and having 2 extra kids around.
God Bless you all! Good night! ~ hope this all makes sense, as I’ve mentioned…I’m on Meds ;)

Looking out the window today is a beautiful day. The sun is shining making my body yearn to go outside and sip an iced tea. However outside is actually frightfully cold, with a slight breeze that cuts to your core. I was only outside for a minute at a time today, just putting kids in or out of the car and running back inside. But it’s a cold one. Although sitting here on my couch in my PJ pants and a comfy t-shirt with the sun peaking through the blinds I feel like it’s almost summer. I pray that’s not wishful thinking. I’ve been wanting snow, all winter I’ve been wanting snow. Jan 4th I believe it was, we finally got snow. We live down in a valley so although it’s snowed earlier in the winter, it didn’t do much more than a skiff at our place. Yesterday and Today the sun as been shining beautifully making my house seem so open and fresh (of course taking the Christmas tree out helped open it up too).
I mentioned in my last post about having to lower Olivia’s crib. Well yesterday I set to it. I ended up needing Orlund’s help as I couldn’t undo one of the screws. Other than that he just kept the girls occupied. I lowered the crib, discovering it sits lower than our old crib did so the diaper boxes full of clothes wont fit under it anymore…guess I’ll have to do some more adjusting. I went through Olivia’s drawers and pulled out everything she’s outgrown and packed it all up. I unpacked all her next size, I love unpacking for Olivia. Since all the clothes used to be Joy’s it brings back such wonderful memories. I counted the dresses I unpacked. WOW 27dresses! She has more than that too, as we have received some as gifts and I already had them hanging. It was nice to get that all unpacked and set up. She’s good until the next growth spurt… Luckily dresses last a bit longer so she should be good all summer….it’s just a matter of getting to summer. LOL. Olivia is pulling herself up on the coffee table as I type this. I believe she is demanding I changer her diaper, and from where I sit, a good couple feet away, I can smell what awaits me. (better change her as she’s in all white.brb).
I also changed over the car seats. Olivia has outgrown the infant car seat. So we purchased a new car seat for Joy. One that transfers into a booster for later on. I cleaned out Joy’s “old” one, fixed the base back and turned it to be rear facing (and moved it to the other side of the car). I figured out how to put the new car seat together, and fastened it into Joy’s place. Both the girls were excited to discover their “new” seats when we headed out for our Saturday night coffee. Orlund and I don’t plan on it, however lately every Saturday night we go out to a coffee shop. We take the girls, give Joy a special treat, and we just enjoy one anothers company. It’s nice, relaxing and when we get home the girls are ready for bed.
Well Olivia is now asking to be fed…. so I’m going to go and do that. I love that she’s crawling now too!
God Bless you all, hope you have a fantastic day.
ps~ MY mom is flying home right NOW! Can’t wait to see her! I sure miss her hugs!

My Day

Well… Today was just one of those days…. You know, we all have them. Everything and anything gets under your skin. You’re (or rather I was) moody, grumpy, sluggish, and just want to be alone. That was my day. The problem? I have two kids. One toddler who is only 2.5 years old however by her sass as of late I’d say she’s going on 13. A baby who is not only teething (painfully I might add), crawling, but also just wanting snuggles. Oh, then of course I worked today on top of it all. And a longer day too! So The oldest Gabe, was, well….. Gabe. Talkative, energetic, rather rude (today anyway), Gabe. Sol, was back to his old self ~ pulling hair, hitting, and just generally being a pest (as of late he’s been real good, today however not so much).

I pulled myself through the day relying heavily on prayer. We made it. Don’t know how, but we did. THANK YOU JESUS! However, during this painstaking day a few cute stories developed ~

Olivia was having some major issues napping today. So after administering her ‘nap time’ dose of Tylenol I decided she could get up. Gabe and Sol were both napping in my room (one Victory!). The Tylenol took affect and after a poop Olivia was ready to go back down. I knew I’d find Joy still awake, however I assumed she’d be her usual self and be in bed playing with whatever toy she could reach without climbing out. Boy was I wrong! Upon entering their bedroom I noticed the rocking chair was pulled out away from the wall. The blanket was pulled off the back of it, piled high on the seat. I threw the blanket and seat pillow off the seat, pushed the rocker back to it’s place, took a seat and started nursing Olivia. Joy climbed out of bed and came over to me, she walked to the far side of the rocker and picked something up. She handed me a play cup and mumbled something. I took the cup and told her to go to bed. I figured she wanted me to play with her and pretend to drink from it. That’s when I noticed something strange….. The cup was sticky. It didn’t take but a split second for me to reach down to my ‘baby is teething’ stash. I keep a bucket on the floor next to the rocker, on the lid I have Olivia’s teething gel and baby Tylenol. Sure enough the brand new (just used this once) Tylenol bottle was tipped over, lid off and spilling out onto the bucket lid. I gasped. Please Lord don’t let her have drank any. I asked Joy if she’d taken any, she said no (don’t know how true or not that is). Joy then asked me to wipe her hands, they were sticky. The armrests on the rocking chair I noticed were sticky. YUCK!
After tucking Olivia in, I wiped up Joy’s hands with some baby wipes and told her to go to sleep. I left the room with the Tylenol, bucket and teething gel. Wont be making that mistake again! Later when I went into their bedroom I found all the girls stuffies in Joy’s bed with a baby wipe placed gently over each and everyone as if they were little blankets… Very cute, but very wasteful.

After the boys were picked up, dinner was eaten and the house was calm enough for me to relax the second cute thing happened. Joy and Orlund were playing Hide and seek. Joy would come to me to help her count “One, Two, One” or “Two, One, Two”. While she looked for him she’d call out “Daddy” and he’d answer “Joy”. Then he started counting and she started hiding. He always had a hard time finding her in the same place (what a good daddy!). However while he looked for her if he called out “Joy” she’d answer “hiding”. LOL. it was VERY cute!

Last story; Olivia has learned a new talent today. She did it for the first time today during her ‘nap’. She stood up all on her own in her crib! Wow, she’s just ready to go! Tonight I found her standing 2 times already. I think she’s excited that she can do it so keeps doing it then getting stuck! Kids always do that. She’s cute! Guess I know what I’ll be doing tomorrow, lowering the crib.. She’s just so tall! Olivia at (almost) 9months is the same height and one pound lighter than Joy was at 12months! (guess while I lower the crib might as well go through all those boxes that are under there and pull out the next size of clothing).

2010.

Our year in review. (of what I can remember).

We had our second Daughter. Olivia Margaret.
I started Flylady.net. Or in other words I’ve worked my butt off at trying to get my house in the shape I want it to be in.
I’ve started Blogging more.
We started to go outside more (to the park etc) and I’m really enjoying the time as a family. We plan/hope to do it even more this year.
Orlund planted a garden, and it was beautiful. And the produce from it was scrumptious!
We switched our Mortgage to a different bank and cut off approx 6years!
I switched from looking after one little girl to watching two little boys.
We’ve already started to out grow our house, but we hope to be here for 5 years (2 years down).
We will need a mini van by the time our next child arrives (not pregnant, but we plan to have more kids eventually). Our car is already on the ‘way out’ so to speak so we would love to get a van sooner than later but will wait until we are at least pregnant.

Things I plan to accomplish this year ~

I plan to read my Bible Daily, for myself and also for the girls (aloud for them).
Don’t talk about people. I always try not to talk about others, but I find I get sucked into it and feel bad after. So I’m trying to not. It’s not easy.
I don’t want to think so negatively all the time, I find I’m constantly putting myself down.
Always have my house ready for drop-ins (as in clean).

There are a few others however they are more personal.

So that’s that. good bye 2010 and I am already loving 2011.
