Joy’s party pt2

It’s been almost a month since Joy’s birthday, figure it’s time to finish these posts.

Pt 2, the stuff~
The two nights leading up to the party Jacob switched his routine and stayed up until midnight. Orlund ended up taking care of him as I’d planned to use the evenings for party prep. Friday night I had planned to decorate the cake and finish all the other tasks I had not gotten to, as well as finish any cleaning. I stayed up until 11pm working on the cake. Didn’t get to bed until midnight as Jacob wanted to stay up. Thankfully Jacob slept good allowing me to feel rested in the morning. I got up early, finished the last cleaning (clearing tables and moving baby toys), decorate the living room and ensure everything else was ready.

It was the first time we have been ready for the party BEFORE the party started! Kids were dressed with hair done. House was clean and set up. Food was prepped and ready to be cooked. We even had time to sit down and visit before people arrived! Here are some pictures of all the stuff I prepared etc ~

2 of the 6 wands I made.

I wish I would have remembered to take a picture of all 6 of the wands they were each unique. I wrapped 6 dowels in ribbon (I used two colors ~ as seen here). Then made tulle poms, and strung ribbon/sequins etc and glue them all together. Time consuming but fun! These were handed out in the goodie bags.

one of the flower balls.. it's only half done

I never finished this project. This ball is only half done. I ran out of time and figured this was something I could sacrifice not completing. I still plan to complete it just for fun/decorating.

The decorated table and punch.

The Punch ~ I got the recipe from one of Orlund’s cook books. I made the ice cube as directed with cut up Orange, Lemon, Lime and maraschino cherries. Then I made the punch ~ Gingerale, limeade, lemonade. It looked like swamp water. After thinking on it I realized why would they have you put Orange pieces in the ice cube if there is no orange in the punch. Sure enough there was also supposed to be Orange Pineapple juice! I didn’t have any, so I added just plain Orange juice to it. It helped the colour, and the taste. Turned out not to bad.

THE CAKE!

Here it is! The cake. I was a bit disappointed as it didn’t turn out exactly how I’d pictured it. but it turned out pretty good considering how short of time I actually got to spend on decorating it. (between nursing/cuddling Jacob).
